Extreme weather is always a fascinating subject to study and photograph. As dangerous as it can be, there’s something very intriguing and beautiful about it, not to mention incredibly impressive. Mother nature has a lot of power at her disposal. One thing a lot of people try to film or photograph is tornadoes. And chasing them can be extremely dangerous. So, why not send a drone in to do it for you? Brandon Clement from WXChasing sent a drone after a Tornado near Sulphur, Oklahoma, and the resulting footage is just amazing.
Plenty of people have sent drones up to get a view of tornadoes in the past, but I’ve never seen one track a tornado for such a length of time, and so clearly. The wind conditions surrounding tornadoes, while not quite as extreme as on the inside, are still pretty turbulent. A wider, uncropped view was also posted to WXChasing’s page on Facebook.
It’s an impressive display of flying, and impressive drone to be able to safely keep up with it, too. Not to mention the impressive display of weather. The make and model of the drone were not mentioned. I’m not sure I’d risk sending my drone up to follow a tornado. Would you? [via Digg]
