When you want to take your DJI Mavic 2 to the skies, you don’t need a mobile device anymore. DJI has launched Smart Controller with an ultra-bright screen, aimed to provide you with more convenient and efficient flying experience, although at a pretty high price.
The DJI Smart Controller has a built-in 5.5-inch 1080p screen. It has an ultra-bright display, two times brighter than conventional smart devices, according to DJI. Thanks to this, it should be easier to control your drone even in bright sunlight. The controller is intended for Mavic 2, but also other OcuSync 2.0-compatible drones. It supports automatic switching between 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz and the transmission of up to 8km. DJI notes that it’s easy to set up, making it easier for you to take off and capture every moment of the action. It’s capable of stable operation in temperatures ranging from -20˚C to +40˚C, and the battery lasts up to 2.5 hours. According to DJI, the new Smart Controller features a customized Android system and optimized DJI GO 4 app. It also supports third-party apps, but DJI notes that they’re not liable for any permission or safety issues resulting from their use. The controller lets you easily transfer your photos and videos to a mobile device, or you can live-stream your drone’s camera view directly to Facebook and Instagram. While the DJI Smart Controller has some useful features, it’s not exactly cheap. It will set you back $650, which is almost half the price of the Mavic 2 Pro. But, if you think it would be a useful addition to your arsenal, it’s available for preorders on B&H and DJI’s website.
