The popular photography site, Luminous Landscape (aka “LuLa”) was established in 1999 by photographer Michael Reichmann. He made it at the suggestion of a friend who said he should put some of his magazine articles online. Almost 20 years later, LuLa has published over 5,000 articles. After a lengthy battle with cancer, Michael passed away in 2016. At that time, LuLa was continued by Kevin Raber, taking over as Publisher and CEO, and a team of others. Now, Michael’s son, Josh is taking over as CEO, promising “new faces and new voices”. But the entire old team appears to be on the way out.
Kevin writes on the LuLa forums…
Former team member Chris Sanderson also wrote… I would like to thank all the loyal readers and members of the Luminous-Landscape family for your support over the last five years. We are onto new endeavors. Stay tuned. All is well. Josh does not address those leaving the LuLa team in his statement posted yesterday. But he does speak about LuLa’s future. he says that they have “a multi-dimensional approach to enhancing your experience”, with features including a new search engine, a personal gallery, updated marketplace, and a more mobile-friendly interface. Personally, I felt that with the end of Kevin’s tenure as CEO and Publisher, I was provided an appropriate moment to also depart. It is time for a new generation to take over. It will be interesting to see the direction that LuLa takes now, with a completely fresh team and new leadership. You can read Josh’s full announcement here. – Josh Reichmann [via Luminous Landscapes]
